Harvesting Software Licences between Government / Public Sector Organisations

Discount-Licensing has continued to be the leading innovator and supplier into the secondary Microsoft software licence market since 2004.  In 2008, our company was the first to transfer pre-owned software licences to one of the UK’s largest public sector organisations.  During 2010, we were approached by various public sector bodies whom wanted to raise the awareness of the potential disused software licence assets.  We have since written various papers on the subject as the following article on Page 39 within the Government Technology magazine demonstrates.

With the current climate of IT cuts, there are clearly vast amounts of disused licences laying waste within the Government and Public sector.  On the other side, there will be organisations experiencing a licence shortfall.  We want to encourage the re-use and reallocation of software licences within this sector.  The tax payer should not incur unnecessary software licence fees in order to farm licences between organisations that the tax payer already owns and so we are now offering a reduced fee for Public sector bodies that would like to farm / harvest their disused licences to other Public sector organisations.

What happens next?

If you work for a Government / Public sector organisation and you know that it owns disused volume software licences, please send an enquiry and a representative will respond to you within 24 hours.

Once we have the details of the disused licences owned by your organisation, Discount-Licensing will confirm if the licences can be legally transferred (all details are kept strictly confidential).  You may already be aware of an organisation that you could harvest the licences to; however if not, we will market your licences to our extensive database of Public sector decision makers.  We will then advise once we identify a Government / Public sector organisation experiencing licence shortfall.  The licence transfer will then be facilitated and managed directly between the two entities.
